In fall 2010, SCORE coordinated the launch of the “Expect More, Achieve More” campaign to build support for Tennessee’s new, higher academic standards. The campaign is led by a coalition of more than 30 statewide business and education organizations from across Tennessee.
To launch the campaign, SCORE organized press conferences across the state with former Tennessee Governor Bredesen and SCORE Chairman Bill Frist. In 2010, SCORE also hosted a parent summit, educator summit, legislator summit, and reporter summit to educate key stakeholders on the importance of high standards.

In addition, SCORE launched a parental outreach website which outlines steps parents can take if their child’s test scores are lower than usual. The site is linked to by 81 Tennessee school districts, as well as the Tennessee Department of Education, Tennessee Business Roundtable, chambers of commerce, and many other organizations.
Over the course of two months, SCORE distributed 330,000 brochures explaining the importance of higher academic standards to parents across the state. In partnership with the Tennessee Higher Education Commission’s GEAR UP program, an additional 150,000 brochures were distributed as well. |
Finally, SCORE produced two public service announcements to air on radio and TV stations across Tennessee. The first PSA was in partnership with the Public School Forum of Knoxville, TN and featured Tennessee Women’s basketball coach Pat Summit. The second was in partnership with Scripps Networks and featured Food Network stars Pat and Gina Neely. SCORE partnered with the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters to air the TV and radio announcements across the state. You can view the TV public service announcements below:
